SCMP warned Hong Kong workers that their real pay raise in 2019 will be one of the lowest amongst Asian cities. While Hong Kong employees are looking at a salary increase of 4%, their real salary increase is only 1.9% after taking into account inflation. The report quoted by SCMP ranked Hong Kong’s salary increment the 15th amongst 20 surveyed countries and cities, putting us behind Shanghai and Singapore.
