With 60 years of expertise, Innovix offers technical and market distribution knowledge for their channel partners in Asia. Headquartered in Singapore, Innovix also has operations in Hong Kong, Macau and Malaysia, and is a division of JTH Group, a member of the Fortune Global 500-listed Jardine Matheson Group.
We spoke with three employees in three of those locations (Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong) to understand more about the company’s working culture, the opportunities available for learning and development, the perks of working at Innovix and, importantly, advice for interviews.
With the fast-changing landscape of IT, Innovix management understands the need for its workforce to be dynamic in order to remain competitive. June, a Regional Senior Marketing Manager in Singapore, told us that management are always “ready to change” and explains that the management team gives her a “lot of autonomy to decide and to innovate” to bring ideas to the table.
With an easy to reach management team that are always on hand to give advice, employees are given time and space to explore themselves. Importantly for Simon Wong, a Senior Business Manager in Hong Kong, “management allow us to fail” and will provide the necessary resources to “help us make our ideas come true”. Simon believes that such an approach is mutually beneficial to employees and Innovix alike.
While the work is challenging, employees enjoy the benefit of a close-knit community that supports collaborative working, making for a unique culture at Innovix. Simon explains that “we work, we laugh together and we try everything together…working at Innovix is really like just a family”.
These thoughts are echoed by Charlotte, a Senior Recruiter in Innovix’s Malaysian office. For Charlotte, it’s the personal connections are an important part of the working environment. People make an effort to be friendly and very quickly, work colleagues become friends.
Innovix believes that learning should not be restricted to the classroom or leadership programs and those curious to learn should have the motivation and tools to be empowered to do so.
Innovix promotes “Learning is an attitude” and encourages colleagues to connect, share and learn together via gLearning, a Game Learning app with animated video learning materials, video games, useful information from partners, and business and personal sharing by colleagues. gLearning allows colleagues to learn anywhere, anytime.
Training is not just app-based. June told us that she has “personally attended a lot of leadership courses, a lot of personal development courses and also trainings to upgrade my marketing skills”. The organisation pushes staff to make sure they attend training to improve their skill sets and themselves.
Innovix rewards its staff with a number of additional benefits. Employees have access to discounts and coupons for Jardine brands, and the company also hosts regular staff sports and recreational activities on a weekly and quarterly basis, as well as an annual company trip.
The highlight of the social calendar is the Innovix’s annual dinner, which provides a great chance for employees to work together to prepare crazy and fun ideas for a costume competition, with everyone, including senior management, joining in with the fun.
Working at Innovix will be challenging. You will be working in a fast and dynamic sector but the company provides generous support to improve yourself in an open and friendly environment.
To be successful at Innovix, Simon says that you have to be “passionate about IT…and be willing to spend time to learn the product and market landscape”. As a Senior Recruiter, Charlotte, provides some top tips for the interview process, explaining that Innovix is “looking for those candidates who have first a strong personality and second, knowledge”.
