Accounting System Development Accountant (26 months contract)

Reports to: Head of Business Readiness

This role will be part of our Project Rise team - a newly established work unit with members from different departments tasked with the mission of delivering an IT solution to support Cathay Pacific as a modern retailer. The imminent task of this project is to look into the replacement of the existing Passenger Revenue Accounting (PRA) and revenue analysis/reporting systems of the Company.

As our Accounting System Development Accountant, you will need to support the Business Readiness Stream, as a subject matter expert of revenue accounting, by ensuring the Passenger Revenue Accounting teams in Hong Kong and Guangzhou are engaged during the implementation phase of the project, understand and agree the new business processes and system; participating in UAT; conducting system training and the impacted departments are ready for the new system cutover.

Key Responsibilities

Business Change Management and Communication
  • Assist to identify, discuss, define and document changes in different departments (mainly Financial Services Department) for the changes in processes associated with the new PRA system
  • Support the Head of Business Readiness to ensure all the relevant business processes and procedures are worked out, agreed with relevant stakeholders and properly documented
  • Support the Head of Business Readiness to ensure all impacted departments fully understand all the relevant changes on business processes and procedures according to the change management plan

  • Write up test cases which can cover all the agreed business functional requirements
  • Perform UAT and write UAT report
  • Report test case instances and follow up the resolution of them with the PRA solution vendor

  • Attend Train-the-Trainer lessons conducted by the PRA solution vendor
  • Review and modify the training materials
  • Coordinate training activities together with different departments
  • Conduct system training to the users of the PRA solution

  • Work together with vendor and solution readiness stream to develop the rehearsal and cutover strategy plan
  • Communicate with the key stakeholders in different departments (mainly Financial Services Department) in agreeing with the rehearsal and cutover strategy
  • Execute the cutover scripts and associated activities
  • Be part of the helpdesk or command center support team during cutover
  • Identify and closely monitor any impacts on the business during cutover

  • With internationally recognised professional accounting qualification e.g. member of HKICPA and ACCA and etc.
  • University graduate with minimum 4 years work experience in airline revenue accounting and/or any accounting related projects
  • Hands on experience in the airline revenue accounting business and processes is a definite advantage
  • Able to understand what is important for the airline business and in the respective accounting teams
  • Able to work with the extended team from other business units to achieve successful results
  • Strong communication, motivation and influencing skills with drive for change implementation
  • Able to communicate well, motivate and even influence internal departments, vendors, technical teams, and key stakeholders to achieve successful results, get things done and drive for changes
  • Structured & disciplined thought process with strong analytical skills: Able to analyse both small and large complex issues
  • Able to maintain good relationships with vendor, technical/ functional departments and key stakeholders
