Taxation Service Manager
Hong Kong
Reports to: Head of Corporate Taxation

Department: Financial Services (FIN)

The job holder will manage Cathay's global corporate tax matters for the entire group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage tax compliance, reporting, and filing works and ensure timely and accurate filing of all corporate and TP documentation of the Group worldwide
  • Prepare and review tax calculations, estimates and reports accruals from both current and deferred tax perspective.
  • Responsible to legally minimise tax liabilities of the Group through informed application of tax laws and regulations
  • Purpose partnering with country and regional teams, head office accounting, corporate finance, treasury, legal, business and operations units in different projects and contracts review
  • Provide internal tax advisory services and support on business operation matters to the Group
  • Help to establish and implement appropriate system or processes for tax risk management for the Group
  • Act as the key point of contact and support for our local and worldwide taxation matters
  • Liaise and manage tax authorities and consultants in dealing with tax audits and litigations of the Group locally, regionally and worldwide.
  • Lead and coordinate ad-hoc tax-driven business initiatives locally or regionally


Requirements
  • Qualified Accountant (CPA or equivalent) & corporate tax experience with a recognised audit firm, preferably Big 4
  • Minimum 7 years' relevant tax experience with at least 3 years' post-qualification experience in supervisory role and around 1-2 year in managerial role.
  • Strong leadership qualities with an ability to manage small teams of direct reports
  • Effective problem solving skills with an analytical mind set
  • Proven planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including communication and presentation
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English (fluency in Cantonese and Mandarin a plus), with a proven ability to convey insightful and informative reports
  • Strong appetite to learn, with an ability & desire to understand the underlying commercial aspects of the relevant business units, willing to challenge the status quo and improve work processes
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, independently as well as an effective team player
  • Strong skills in MS Office applications, especially in Excel
  • Experience in using SAP advantageous
  • Technically strong with solid knowledge and experience in accounting, corporate tax compliance and GST
  • Knowledge of International taxation laws and regulations with regional tax exposure in Asia Pacific is advantageous
  • Prior experience in tax strategy implementation, planning support and project management will be advantageous
  • Possess good business acumen and highly adaptive
