Good Lab is a social innovation consultancy focusing on working with the government and civil society on enabling public sector social innovation. Using collaborative methodologies such as design thinking, we bring together partners in the community together to create lasting social impact. What you can get from the Internship Programme
  • Learn about Design Thinking and social innovation;
  • Gain concrete knowledge and experience in project planning and execution through working closely with a committed and motivated Good Lab team;
  • Receive substantial guidance and support from a full-time colleague who will be your mentor throughout the internship period; and
  • Get familiar with the daily operations of an NGO and a public sector consultancy.

The Internship Programme

There are three streams in Good Lab's Internship Programme, where you will have the opportunity to fully immerse yourself with practical training and guidance on one or more projects that we are working on.

The three streams are:

1. Project Interns

As a project intern, you will support the planning and execution of stakeholder engagement activities, research, event coordination and the delivery of our public sector consultancy projects and other social innovation projects.

We are currently in collaboration with the Drainage Services Department (DSD) and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) of the HKSAR government to co-create and enhance public services with the users. Check out more our works here (

This stream is suitable for:
  • Detail-minded persons with good communications skills who enjoy meeting stakeholders from diverse backgrounds;
  • Who are open to challenges and willing to learn new skills and knowledge; and
  • Who have effective organisational and problem-solving skills and are capable of managing a large volume of information and work in an efficient and timely manner.

2. Research and Training Interns

In addition to consultancy projects, Good Lab is also committed in training talents to tackle the pressing and complex social issues in Hong Kong using Design Thinking. As a research and training intern, you will support the knowledge management of Good Lab, research on social innovation and the delivery of our training programmes.

This stream is suitable for:
  • Inquisitive persons who crave knowledge and insights about community issues, Social Innovation and Design Thinking; and
  • Who are skilled at gathering and analysing information, and have the capacity to transfer information and knowledge to a wide range of different target groups.

3. Marketing and Communication Interns

A marketing and communication intern will be responsible for initiating the collection and writing of stories related to Good Lab's consultancy projects and trainings, assisting with the social media coverage of our activities, supporting the identification and the production of new communication vehicles of Good Lab.

This stream is suitable for:
  • Persons with excellent verbal and written communication skills who are able to absorb and process information quickly;
  • Who are familiar with social media strategies and platforms; and
  • Who have experience in content creation, graphic design, video production, is a plus.

All interns may be required to perform other related tasks and responsibilities as requested.

  • Are a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region;
  • Are a full time undergraduate/ postgraduate student from any discipline;
  • Are highly proficient in written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin;
  • Have demonstrated interest and/or experience in social issues, community design and social innovation;
  • Are responsible, well-organized, self-motivated, detail-minded; and
  • Possess good IT skills; knowledge of design software (such as Illustrator, Photoshop) is a plus.
