Description
As a Rackspace Tech Writer, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented engineering team to produce technical documentation in a cross-functional, distributed environment. Tech Writing team is in charge of global process standardization for both Global Technical Support (GTS) and Global Data Center Infrastructure (GDCI). This group is housed within Segment Support and in addition to standardization, Tech writing team also assist GDCI and GTS with learning and curriculum writing and delivery.
This group oversee three systems: One Wiki --support end users and TES supports the backend. The One Wiki is Rackspace's global wiki platform. The GDCI Wiki --support end users and TES supports the backend. The GDCI Wiki is specific to GDCI teams. We are planning a migration off of the GDCI Wiki and on to the One Wiki for GDCI documentation. Totara LMS --support end users and TES supports the backend. Totara LMS is our current LMS for curriculum and training delivery. We are migrating soon to a new Open edX instance.
In addition, this group also support process standardization in multiple ways: Facilitating standardization meetings with content SMEs (e.g., Linux, Windows, DCOPS, MBU, Virtualization, etc.) We provide metrics on documentation health and utilization including compliance signoff statistics
Key Responsibilities :
Your responsibilities as a technical writer include creating conceptual information, step-by-step procedures etc.
Key Responsibilities :
Drive documentation planning with engineering teams
Produce high-quality documentation for a web service
Independently follow designs and standards to develop and deliver conceptual, how-to, and API reference docs for our software services and components
Make suggestions for updating or improving our doc standards
Work as part of a team to produce documentation for software services and components Conduct peer edits for grammar, style, voice, and form
Help define writing projects and determine priorities
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
4 to 8 years in a technical writing role or someone with 3+ years of software development documentation experience
Experience using content publishing tools to write, format, manage, and publish content
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Any GraduateExperience with cloud computing or web services or related areas Experience blogging or creating websites
Experience fixing customer tickets, GitHub pull requests and issues, or an equivalent workflow for incident management
Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly
Ability to write example code in any scripting languages (desired but not mandatory)
